It was an amazing night for derby as the rink was filled to the brim with derby fans!  The double header promised to be an exciting event and it definitely was.  The first teams to bout during the double header were the Terrormedixxx and the Dockyard Derby Dames from Tacoma.

It was obvious from the first jam that these two teams were going to have an intense bout.  Although the Dockyard Derby Dames wasted no time getting points on the board the Terrormedixxx were right on their heels.

Let the jam begin!

With some solid blocking on both sides the jammers had to step up their game.  Some fantastic plays bumped the score up for both sides in leaps and bounds.  As the intensity of the bout increased so did tempers however.  Stacy Wayne Gacy and Diva State got to start their half-time early as they were both ejected from the first period for trying to re-enact a scene from the movie '300.'

Stacy Wayne Gacy - "Madness?  This is ROLLER DERBY!"

After the half the Terrormedixxx poured it on strong and closed the gap in the score with some great jams.  The intensity of the first period only increased in the second and the penalty box soon became crowded with bad girls.

Daisy Nuke - When points absolutely positively have to be scored on time.

As the second period wound down the Dockyard Derby Dames were able to put some serious points up that the Terrormedixxx just couldn't quite match.  Even with a spectacular last jam for our local girls the Tacoma League pulls off the victory with the final score being Terrormedixxx - 99 to the Dockyard Derby Dames - 128.

Take your medicine!

After such a fantastic bout it was hard to think the night could keep going at that level, but there was still more derby in store for the fans...

The second bout of the night was The Death Rattle Rollers vs the Olympia team, the Prima Donnas.

Many of these girls had faced each other before when the SCRV All-Stars traveled down to Olympia for the New Year Knockdown in January.  If anyone thought this bout would be any less charged than that one they were sorely mistaken.

Not in our house!

I said whip it!

It's become apparent that even though this is only the Death Rattle Rollers second bout together as a team they are working very well together.  They took the lead early on and held on through the first period.  The Prima Donnas let their experience work for them though and even with the Death Rattle Rollers great execution of their plays the Olympia team never let them get out of striking distance.
If the fans wanted action, they got all they could handle during this bout.  The girls on both teams refused to let their energy drop off as they battled it out through the first period.  As half-time began the Death Rattle Rollers held on to their early lead but with another period to go the bout was sure to only increase in energy.

Beware the Black Tide!

In an incredible second period the Prima Donnas battled there way back to tie the score in the closing minutes of the bout.  As the crowd rose to it's feet the final jam ended and the refs tallied the score to reveal that the Death Rattle Rollers had won by a mere 2 points!  The final score was Death Rattle Rollers at 192 and the Prima Donnas at 190.  Even in such an intense and high scoring bout the teams always end with a hug proving that Women's Flat Track Roller Derby is a fantastic sport.

Hugs all around!

Special thanks go out to the Dockyard Derby Dames, the Prima Donnas, and especially all the fans who came out to support local roller derby!
