On Saturday Slaughter County's own Terrormedixxx hosted the Bellingham Roller Betties in a knockdown drag out derby battle that was the definition of exciting derby action!

As the first jam started the audience soon realized that they would have to stop blinking to keep from missing the action.  With jammers from both sides displaying lightning fast speed it was obvious that this bout was going to be intense.

When the Terrormedixx are smiling it's time to start worrying!

With such fast paced action the skaters had to rely on time in the penalty box to catch their breath.  All through the first period the hits kept on coming and as the bout went into the half the score showed the Bellingham team up with 67 points to the Terrormedixxx 60.

Go ahead and have the inside line then!

With the famous 'never say die' SCRV attitude the Terrormedixxx came back from the half with a vengeance.  As the jammers continued to burn up the track the blockers did their part by laying on some awesome hits.

B-Murda will go 187 on a pivot!

With both teams continuing to batter each other mercilessly through the second period the bout became a slugfest.  With skates flying everywhere and bodies hitting the floor the score continued to seesaw.  In the end though, the local girls came out with the victory and the final score displayed Terrormedixxx - 131 Bellingham Roller Betties - 93.

It's much less likely that the Terrormedixxx will cause any property damage when they win!

Even with such an exciting bout going on there was something just as exciting happening in the rink as well.  There was a special guest star in the audience on Saturday!

Gwenith "Turtle" Moritz was there to join in on all the derby fun!

Diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor (a rare childhood kidney cancer) she spent the previous 5 weeks recovering from surgery at Seattle Children's Hospital.  She is now at home continuing her chemotherapy, but luckily for all of us she had the time to make it out to see the action on the flat track.  The Slaughter County Roller Vixens wanted to help Gwen and her family out with their dream of having their first family vacation to Disneyworld.  Sounds like the perfect opportunity for a super raffle!

The grand prize winner received the famous magic guitar!  The guitar was signed by the Hell's Belles then sealed to ensure the signatures would live for as long as the guitar did.  Then, in a previous raffle, the guitar was won by none other than Hunter S. Toss 'em who generously donated it to SCRV for the raffle on Saturday.  Even now the guitar is being put on ebay as it continues to travel toward rock and roll legend.

The legend of the magic guitar lives on!

The runner up prize was an SCRV gift basket containing (among other goodies) some swanky duds.

Now THAT'S a snazzy shirt!

The Slaughter County Roller Vixens send their derby love to the Bellingham Roller Betties and their excellent cheering section who traveled all the way down here to rock it on the flat track.  We would also like to thank everyone who purchased a raffle ticket, and of course we would like to thank all of the fans and volunteers from both sides.
