Derby Summer


The Derby Summer was kicked off with a bang on Saturday as the crowd filed in to watch an action packed double header. The first teams to battle it out were Slaughter County's own Death Rattle Rollers vs the Rockin' Roulettes team from Coos County Roller Girls who came all the way up from Oregon to do battle on the flat track.
	The Death Rattle Rollers wasted no time bringing the heat on the Rockin' Roulettes. Leaving their opponents scoreless for the opening jams the local girls quickly ran the score up.

The Rockin' Roulettes made it clear that they didn't come all the way up here for the after party though. Throughout the night they kept up their game and pulled off some great plays of their own.
		Just where do you think you're going?
	During the second half the scoreboard proved that the Death Rattle Roller's voodoo hexes were taking their toll on the visiting team. No matter what the Rockin' Roulettes tried they just couldn't stop the relentless attack our local girls threw at them.
Keep on rollin!
With the end of the bout drawing near the Death Rattle Rollers gave the fans a show as they continued to push their victory home. When the dust cleared the refs consulted on the score and as the final points went up on the board the bout passed into history with the score being Death Rattle Rollers - 181 to the Rockin' Roulettes - 60.
		We are the champions, my friends!
Even after witnessing the destructive power of the Death Rattle Rollers the fans still had more action in store for them...


The second bout of the night was our own Terrormedixxx vs the Rainy City Roller Dolls.
	Some of these girls had faced each other before when SCRV sent some derby girls down to Rainy City for their opening scrimmage. Even though the girls from Centralia were in our house now they still brought their hard hitting derby style with them. Right from the first jam everyone could tell this was going to be a hard fought bout.
Blow the whistle already!
As each side continued to clobber the other during the first period the bout looked like it go go either way. Rainy City seemed determined to win though and they continued to put points on the board bringing them ahead of the Terrormedixxx.

	The Terrormedixxx have faced tough times before and being behind by a few points isn't enough to faze them. As the second period time began to wind down their intensity only increased as they began to administer their own brand or roller derby medicine.

In the final jams of the night the Terrormedixxx displayed the 'never say die' attitude of Slaughter County as they closed the gap in the score and finally tied it. With only one jam remaining the Terrormedixxx racked up the last points of the night and everyone held their breath as the score was updated. As the final score of Terrormedixxx - 106 to the Rainy City Roller Dolls - 95 was displayed the Slaughter County fans cheered not only for their home team but for the awesome bout they had just witnessed.
		Let the party begin!
